To launch the new Toyota Supra with bold visual impact, this project centered around a surreal twist: placing an iridescent-colored Supra in real traffic, cruising down the iconic Puente Dos Hermanos in Condado. The objective was to capture attention instantly, blending high-end CGI with real-world footage so seamlessly that viewers would question what they were seeing.
The car’s unique, color-shifting paint was designed to feel otherworldly — a visual outlier that turns heads without being cartoonish. Shot in broad daylight with real cars surrounding the intended CGI placement, the footage offered natural reflections, shadows, and traffic behavior, all of which helped ground the final visual in reality..
El Arenero handled the full production, post-production and VFX pipeline. A 3D model of the Supra was lit, textured, and tracked into the original plate. Because actual vehicles appear in the same shot, the integration had to be flawless — every shadow, bounce light, and motion had to match perfectly. Camera tracking, compositing, and color correction were all fine-tuned to ensure the digital Supra felt indistinguishable from the cars around it. Even the sound design was used intentionally to enhance the realism and create subtle anticipation.
The result? A visually stunning commercial that had people second-guessing what was real. Social media comments were filled with curiosity, disbelief, and excitement — a clear sign that the illusion worked. This piece pushed the boundaries of car commercials in Puerto Rico and showed how far design and VFX can go to elevate product storytelling.
